The Body, in Theory: Histories of Cultural Materialism

The body constructed by theory and through social and cultural practices has provided the departure point for studies that broach new fields and styles of inquiry. The aim of the series The Body, in Theory: Histories of Cultural Materialism is to reconstruct a history of materialisms (aesthetic, linguistic, and philosophical) by locating the body at the intersection of speculative and cultural formations across a wide range of contexts. Forthcoming in the series: Breathing Simulacra by Francis Barker; An Utterly Dark Spot by Miran Bozovic, with a foreword by Slavoj Zizek; and translations of works by Jean Baudrillard, Hubert Fichte, Marcello Gigante, Louis Marin, Jean Louis Schefer, and Michel Serres.
