Arjun can't cook at all, but he loves to. None of the other slaves can cook either. And if any of the party could cook (e.g., Ngaya), it was beneath them to admit it.

We rolled reaction rolls to the food.

Most were "ick, but edible in our very hungry conditions." A few (Akhan's slave Sot, Shekkara's other slave, and Dlarku) were "this is best thing I've ever eaten." Shekkara's other slave said to Arjun "we can sell the cook!" Shekkara regrets not bringing her slave cook. I think the rest of the party does too. Akhan wisely and smoothly managed to get out of eating the offered food and ate Tumissan hma-jerky instead.
