• Born in England
• In May 1625, a list of Virginia patents, some on the Eastern shore, showed John Blower (Blore, Bloare), a so called Ancient Planter, who had come to Virginia in 1610, was credited with 140 acres on the north side of Old Plantation Creek's mouth. By 1628 his land was in the hands of Roger Saunders, who had married Blower's widow, Frances. Saunders managed the land of his stepson, William Blower, and enhanced the Blower patent's size by 50 acres. By 1632 Roger Saunders had patented an additional 300 acres which lay to the east of the creek's mouth and was identified as "the Indian field." At Saunders death his land descended to his widow, Frances, who in 1633 married William Burdett.
• Immediately to the north of the Blower/Saunders tract was the patent of fur trader Captain Henry Fleete, above which was the land of Thomas Graves, patented in 1628.
